Festive Artisan Market Returns to Peel for Christmas Shopping

A popular artisan market celebrating the spirit of the season will return to Peel this weekend. The event, known as Christmas Hygge, is hosted by Artreach Studios and marks its eighth year. This festive gathering will take place across four indoor venues: Sailors Shelter, Pilates Isle of Man, House of Manannan, and Artreach Studios itself.

This year, Sailors Shelter on East Quay joins the lineup as a new venue. The historic site, which has served the community since 1876, has been transformed into a warm and inviting space adorned with seasonal decorations. Its long-standing purpose as a refuge for sailors and fishermen resonates with the Danish concept of ‘hygge,’ which embodies warmth, comfort, and simple pleasures.

Each participating venue offers a distinct atmosphere. Pilates Isle of Man, located on the quayside, combines wellness with festive charm. The House of Manannan provides a cultural backdrop within its museum foyer, while Artreach Studios in the Old Gasworks on Mill Road remains a vibrant hub for local artists and small businesses.

The event features over 30 artisan stalls showcasing a variety of handcrafted gifts. Attendees can explore items ranging from jewellery and fine art to textiles, candles, and sustainable beauty products. Additionally, local food favourites like The Parish Pantry and Filbey’s Little Food Shack will offer delicious culinary treats.

Christmas Hygge opens with a launch night on November 14, 2023, from 17:00 to 20:30. The festivities continue on Saturday and Sunday, with hours from 10:00 to 16:30 each day. On Sunday, Sailors Shelter will close earlier at 14:30.
