Amazon Offers Free Viewing of ‘Fallout’ Season 1 Episodes
Fans of the popular dystopian series, Fallout, can now enjoy the first season at no cost as Amazon Prime Video makes episodes available on its official YouTube channel. This initiative aims to attract new viewers ahead of the highly anticipated finale of Fallout season two, set to conclude soon.
Beginning January 31, 2024, Amazon’s YouTube account has been uploading two episodes daily, allowing free access to the show’s first season. The initial episodes were released at 01:00 and 02:00 UK time, catering primarily to viewers in the United States, where the timing is more favorable. As of now, the premiere episode and the second installment have already garnered thousands of views, making this an ideal opportunity for those who have yet to experience the acclaimed series.
The free viewing opportunity lasts until February 11, 2024, when all uploaded episodes will expire at 08:00 UK time. This promotional strategy follows a previous collaboration with Samsung, which offered Fallout to smart TV users at no charge.
The timing of this free offer strategically coincides with the conclusion of season two, which has shifted its setting to the iconic Las Vegas Strip, now referred to as New Vegas. The current season has received praise for its engaging action, compelling characters, and impressive world-building.
Critics have lauded the adaptation for its balance between staying true to the original video game series and introducing fresh elements. Tom Percival, Deputy TV Editor at Metro, remarked that the show is “a near-perfect adaptation,” successfully maintaining the style and tone of the games while confidently exploring new narrative avenues. Unlike many post-apocalyptic series, Fallout has been noted for its vibrant and entertaining portrayal of a dystopian world.
The dynamic between characters Lucy, played by Ella Purnell, and the Ghoul, portrayed by Walton Goggins, forms the heart of the narrative as they embark on a quest to locate Lucy’s father, played by Kyle MacLachlan.
Viewers have responded positively, with the show achieving a remarkable 95 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.3 rating on IMDb. The acclaim has varied from comments declaring it “nothing short of a masterpiece” to being hailed as the best video game adaptation to hit the screen.
As audiences rush to binge watch the available episodes, the promotional campaign illustrates Amazon’s intention to broaden the reach of Fallout and engage with potential new fans.
The first two episodes of Fallout season one are currently available on Amazon Prime Video’s YouTube channel, with further episodes to follow daily until the expiration date.
