Manchester United Finalizes Antony’s Permanent Transfer to Real Betis
Manchester United has confirmed the permanent transfer of winger Antony to Real Betis for a fixed fee of €22 million (£19 million), with the potential for an additional €3 million (£2.6 million) in performance-related add-ons. The club has also included a 50 per cent sell-on clause in the agreement, allowing them to benefit financially should Antony transfer from Betis in the future.
Antony’s move to Betis follows a loan period that began in January 2024, during which he rejuvenated his career. In total, he scored nine goals across 26 appearances for the Seville-based club, significantly contributing to their journey to the UEFA Conference League final. Despite their efforts, Betis was unable to secure the trophy, which was claimed by Chelsea in Wroclaw.
In a statement, Manchester United expressed their best wishes for Antony’s future, acknowledging his contributions during his time with the club. “Manchester United and Real Betis have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Antony, subject to international clearance and registration,” the statement read. The club highlighted that Antony joined from Ajax in the summer of 2022, making 96 appearances and netting 12 goals in total.
During his tenure at Manchester United, Antony achieved notable success, including a standout performance in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United, where his efforts helped secure a trophy for manager Erik ten Hag. He was also part of the squad that won the Emirates FA Cup the following season, overcoming Manchester City 2-1 in the final at Wembley.
Antony’s last match for Manchester United occurred in January 2024, when he came on as a substitute in a Premier League loss to Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford. The club’s management and fans now look forward to seeing how he will continue to develop at Real Betis.
With this transfer, Manchester United aims to continue refining its squad as they pursue further success in domestic and international competitions.
