Chelsea’s Cole Palmer Happy Despite Manchester United Rumors
Cole Palmer’s future at Chelsea has come under scrutiny as speculation mounts regarding a potential transfer to Manchester United. Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior addressed these rumors, stating that Palmer is “very happy” at Stamford Bridge. Despite his apparent contentment, sources suggest that the young midfielder has been feeling homesick and is contemplating a return to Manchester this summer.
Palmer, who signed a seven-year contract with Chelsea in September 2023, had previously moved from his hometown of Wythenshawe, just outside Manchester. Upon joining the club, he quickly made a name for himself as a Premier League talent and earned his first call-up to the England national team. His connection to Manchester United runs deep, as he supported the club during his childhood, expressing a preference for the red side over a return to Manchester City.
In a pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s game against Crystal Palace, Rosenior emphasized Palmer’s importance to the team’s long-term strategy. “I’ve had numerous conversations with Cole, and he seems very happy to be here. He’s a huge part of our long-term plans,” he stated. Rosenior acknowledged the player’s struggles with injuries this season, which has limited his appearances.
Palmer’s injury woes began early in the campaign with a groin issue that forced him to miss significant playing time. After attempting a hasty return to the pitch, he aggravated the injury and found himself sidelined for two months. As of now, he is expected to be fit for the upcoming match against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
The 23-year-old midfielder has not only been making headlines for his on-field performances but also for his candid remarks about his childhood hero. In January 2025, Palmer reflected on his experiences at Old Trafford, stating, “When I do go back to the stadium, it’s good because I used to go and watch matches there.” He expressed admiration for Wayne Rooney, naming him as his idol growing up. Palmer’s connection to United remains strong, but for now, he is focused on contributing to Chelsea’s success.
As Chelsea fans await Palmer’s return to form, the club’s management remains committed to nurturing his development. Rosenior’s statements indicate that the club will prioritize getting him back to peak performance levels, particularly following a frustrating outing against Brentford. The upcoming match against Crystal Palace could serve as a pivotal moment for Palmer as he seeks to regain his place in the team and silence transfer speculation.
