The Mayor of Podgorica, Prof. Dr. Saša Mujović, held a significant meeting today with Muhamed Alabar, the founder and president of Eagle Hills. The discussion focused on the development of urban green spaces in the Montenegrin capital. Mujović presented the concept of “green and blue infrastructure” for Podgorica, which outlines the city’s investment potential in public amenities, recreational spaces, and green areas.

Mujović emphasized the importance of developing mixed-use zones that play a strategic role in transforming Podgorica into a modern, sustainable city. He highlighted opportunities for establishing new parks, rest areas, and children’s facilities, as well as enhancing recreational and sports zones. A key aspect of the proposal is the establishment of a continuous network of walking and cycling paths, which would connect vital parts of the city and provide residents with more outdoor space.

The mayor detailed that these locations represent long-term potential for space valuation, improvements in quality of life, and the creation of a distinctive urban identity for Podgorica. Among the most promising sites mentioned were Stari aerodrom, Lješkopoljska Gorica, the corridor along the Moraca River, Zlatica Park Forest, and Dajbabska Gora. These areas offer opportunities for investment, expansive green zones, landscaping, and additional facilities.

A significant advantage of these locations is that they are predominantly owned by the city, which reduces administrative and legal hurdles and creates favorable conditions for rapid project implementation. Mujović stated that these sites could become recognizable landmarks for Podgorica in the future, developed in line with contemporary urban standards. He also noted that certain segments of the proposed zones are economically attractive, as they present opportunities for integrating supplementary services that could generate additional value.

In response, Alabar expressed keen interest in the proposed projects, noting that Podgorica boasts an exceptional climate, attractive locations, and ample untapped development potential. He described Podgorica as a beautiful city with wonderful people and numerous opportunities. Alabar indicated his readiness to consider concrete proposals in the near future.

This meeting has opened avenues for further discussions and a more in-depth exploration of locations that hold strategic significance for the city. A potential collaboration with Eagle Hills could significantly expedite the development of modern, organized, and functional public spaces in Podgorica.
