A Nuneaton businessman, Zahin, has expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received following a viral incident captured by Sky News. During an interview with correspondent Shamaan Freeman-Powell on Queens Road, Zahin became the target of verbal abuse, prompting a significant online reaction across the UK.

In a heartfelt statement posted on the social media page for his takeaway, Dessertz 2 Go, Zahin reflected on the positive response that followed the footage. He described feeling “overwhelmed” by the love and encouragement from the community. “This is my country, this is my home,” he stated.

Zahin noted his strong ties to Britain, mentioning his educational journey, which included attending school, secondary school, college, and university in the UK. He emphasized the impact that British teachers and friends have had on his life, stating that “99 percent of my customers are British.”

The 32-year-old expressed his appreciation for the opportunities he has received in the UK, saying, “I’m forever grateful for all the opportunities this country has given me.” He also acknowledged the influx of new followers and messages of support that have come his way since the incident, stating, “Big up to all my new followers and everyone who has DM’d showing love.”

In a bid to strengthen community ties, Zahin announced a meet and greet event at his establishment located at 104 Edward Street on September 7, 2023, from 15:00 to 17:00. The gathering will feature complimentary pizzas, cake, and ice cream, providing an opportunity for local residents to connect with one another.

This incident has also prompted action from law enforcement. On September 3, two women from Nuneaton were arrested in connection with the abuse incident. CoventryLive has reached out to Warwickshire Police for further updates on the ongoing investigation.

Zahin’s experience highlights the power of community support in the face of adversity, showing that even in challenging situations, there can be a profound outpouring of kindness and solidarity.
