Local Musicians Release Runrig Cover to Support Highland Hospice
A new cover of Runrig’s classic song “Every River” has been released by local musicians Joanne Ross and Scooty, with the goal of raising funds for the Highland Hospice. The duo’s rendition follows a surge of public interest, which saw their initial online posting gather nearly 60,000 views and numerous positive comments. This heartfelt initiative aims to support the vital work of the hospice, which provides essential care to families in the Highland region.
Joanne Ross, a former winner of the Ness Factor, shared how the idea to release the cover originated from overwhelming public demand. “When we put it online, the feedback was incredible,” she said. “We even had people stopping us in the street to express their appreciation and encourage us to release it officially.” The musicians decided to respond to this enthusiasm by contributing to the hospice in a meaningful way through their music.
The Highland Hospice plays a crucial role in the community, offering care and support to patients and their families. In light of this, Ross and Scooty felt compelled to give back. “The hospice does the most incredible work for families across the Highlands, and we wanted to give something back in the best way we know how, through music,” Ross remarked. She emphasized that every contribution, whether it is £1 or £10, can make a significant difference.
Wendy Morgan, communications manager for Highland Hospice, expressed gratitude for the duo’s efforts. “We are so grateful to Joanne and Scooty for releasing such a beautiful song in aid of the hospice,” she stated. “They performed it in our Inpatient Unit last week, and many of our nurses had tears in their eyes. It truly is beautiful, and we’d encourage anyone to donate to the hospice in return for the full version of the track.”
To access the complete track, supporters are invited to donate any amount to the special JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/page/joanne-ross-1. After making a donation, fans can take a screenshot of their contribution and email it to [email protected] to receive a downloadable version of the song.
This collaborative effort highlights the power of music to unite communities and support essential services. As Ross and Scooty continue their musical journey, their commitment to giving back serves as an inspiring reminder of the impact individuals can have in their communities.
