Emergency services responded to a significant fire at the former Campsie View School building located on Boghead Road in Lenzie after it was reported at approximately 22:50 on August 22, 2023. The blaze prompted the evacuation of several nearby homes, with local authorities urging residents to keep their windows and doors closed due to smoke concerns.

Firefighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service mobilized five appliances to tackle the fire through the night, with crews continuing their efforts into Saturday morning. As the situation developed, officials from East Dunbartonshire Council confirmed that multiple roads would remain closed, including Spruce Drive, Heather Drive, Heather Place, and Boghead Road itself.

In a statement, Police Scotland noted, “Emergency services are responding to a fire at a disused building on Boghead Road, Lenzie, which was reported around 10:50pm. Road closures are in place and a number of properties are being evacuated. Residents in the nearby areas are asked to keep their windows and doors closed at this time.”

The fire, described as large, has drawn significant attention from the community and emergency services alike. A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service stated, “We are currently in attendance at a fire involving a derelict building in Kirkintilloch. Five fire appliances have been mobilised to Boghead Road, where crews are working to extinguish a large fire. If you live nearby, please keep windows and doors closed.”

As a precaution, the East Dunbartonshire Council utilized social media to advise residents about the situation, stating, “Due to a fire at the old Campsie View School building on Boghead Road, Kirkintilloch, the following roads have been closed to traffic – Spruce Drive, Heather Drive, Heather Place, and Boghead Road. It is anticipated that the roads will remain closed over the weekend. Please follow the diversion signs that are in place.”
