Igalo Ends Kom’s Unbeaten Streak with 2-1 Victory in Montenegro
The football team Igalo halted the unbeaten run of Kom, winning 2-1 in a thrilling match that concluded the autumn segment of the Montenegrin Second Football League on October 25, 2023. This result not only marked a significant achievement for Igalo, which had struggled without a win for nine rounds, but it also ended Kom’s impressive streak of nine matches without a defeat.
Igalo surged ahead in the 15th minute thanks to a miscue from Kom’s goalkeeper, Ozav. Jovan Vujović seized the opportunity, providing an excellent assist to Pavle Pićurić, who easily found the back of the net to make it 1-0. Despite the early setback, Kom exhibited resilience and equalized before halftime. In the 38th minute, Taisija Oicu scored following a corner kick, leaving the score at 1-1.
The second half began with Igalo reasserting their dominance. Just three minutes in, Nikola Kosac broke down the left flank and sent a low cross to Nihad Balić, who skillfully converted the chance, securing a crucial win for Igalo.
In the other match of the day, Iskra and Berane played to a dramatic 2-2 draw. Berane took the lead in the 25th minute, with Srđan Bošković scoring. As the match progressed, Iskra managed to turn the tables, with Sava Milić scoring twice, once in the 59th minute and again in the 84th minute. However, the drama did not end there. In the dying moments, Vladimir Popović was fouled in the penalty area, prompting referee Luka Pejović to award a penalty. Bošković stepped up again and successfully converted, ensuring both teams shared the spoils.
The results from the other matches played on the same day included:
