Borth & Ynyslas Golfers Celebrate President’s Day at Woodenbridge

Members of the Borth and Ynyslas Golf Club recently participated in a special event at the Woodenbridge Golf Club in County Wicklow, Ireland. This invitation was extended by Gavin Moran, the president of the twin club, for his annual President’s Day celebration. A group of six members, including Captain Nick Downing and Captain Elect Harri Jones, made the trip to Ireland to partake in the festivities.

The visit, coordinated by Les Jones, the club’s Irish Liaison Officer, began on Friday with the group travelling to Arklow on Ireland’s southeast coast. On Saturday, they attended the President’s Day golf competition at Woodenbridge, where the course was noted for its excellent conditions. Following the competition, the golfers enjoyed a dinner attended by over 100 guests at the Woodenbridge Club House.

During the dinner, Captain Nick took a moment to express gratitude to President Gavin for the warm invitation. He presented gifts on behalf of the Borth and Ynyslas Golf Club, reinforcing the camaraderie between the two clubs.

The atmosphere of the event was filled with joy and friendly competition, as players relished the opportunity to engage with their Irish counterparts. The Borth and Ynyslas Golf Club has a longstanding relationship with Woodenbridge, and members always look forward to the warm hospitality they receive.

Looking ahead, the Borth and Ynyslas golfers are eager to return in May 2026 to defend the Celtic Cup, which they admirably claimed this year. The event not only strengthens ties between the two clubs but also highlights the spirit of friendly competition that golf embodies.
