Prince George Faces Transition as He Prepares for Secondary School

Prince George, the 12-year-old heir to the British throne, is reportedly experiencing a mix of excitement and anxiety as he prepares for a significant transition in his educational journey. Next year, he will leave Lambrook School, where he currently studies alongside his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, and move on to secondary education.
This change marks a pivotal moment in George’s life, as he will be departing from the familiar environment he has shared with his brother and sister. Veteran royal commentator Jennie Bond highlighted that such transitions can be daunting for young individuals, particularly those in the public eye. In an interview with The Mirror, she noted, “William and Catherine’s baby boy George is rapidly turning into a young man – and this last year at Lambrook School with his siblings will be another milestone in his life.”
The identity of George’s next school has not been officially disclosed, but speculation suggests that “all roads lead to Eton.” This prestigious institution is located near the family’s residence in Windsor and has a historical connection, as it is where his father, Prince William, received his education.
As George prepares for this new chapter, Bond believes he may feel nervous about the impending changes. She expressed hope that some of his friends from Lambrook would accompany him to the next school. “I’m sure that he’ll feel nervous about the big change ahead, but hopefully some of his school friends will be making the move with him, wherever he is headed,” she said.
In addition to a new academic setting, George will also face the adjustment of having his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, take a less hands-on role in his schooling. According to Bond, George has grown accustomed to his parents being actively involved in his educational experience. “As often as possible, it’s mum or dad who does the school run, and I’m sure they’re fully invested in every aspect of his education,” she explained. “That’s going to be another big change ahead.”
With September 2024 fast approaching, this academic year is poised to be a significant one for the young royal and his family. As he navigates these transitions, the public will undoubtedly be watching closely to see how Prince George adapts to his evolving role and responsibilities.
