Initially, Laurence was being set up with television personality Carol Vorderman, but a chance encounter led to their connection. Suranne recounted a memorable moment from the wedding, stating, “I asked my old Corrie boss to set me up with someone at the wedding. He said, ‘I do have a friend, he’s over there.'”

Laurence recalled the day, noting that his friends attempted to match him with Vorderman. After enjoying the festivities, he approached Suranne while she was dancing with actor Peter Eccleston. “Can I cut in?” he asked, but he ended up dancing with Peter instead. It gave me the motivation to finally move out.”
