Montenegro Handball Team Secures Narrow Victory Over Belgium

Montenegro’s national handball team emerged victorious against Belgium with a score of 34:30 in a friendly match held at the Verde Hall. This game marked the team’s first competitive outing in nearly six months, and the win came only in the final minutes after a challenging performance.

Captain Mirko Radović described the match as a valuable test for the squad. “We entered the game a bit too relaxed and had to make up for that as we progressed,” he said. Radović acknowledged that the team tightened their defense in the second half, correcting early mistakes to secure a well-deserved victory. He noted that despite the challenges, the final margin of victory was satisfactory, especially considering the absence of some injured players. “Overall, the impressions are positive. I believe the audience enjoyed a true display of competitive spirit,” he added.

Radović did not score during the match, but fellow teammate Stevan Vujović contributed with a goal, emphasizing the difficulty the team faced in pulling away from their opponents. “It was tough to break free; we couldn’t achieve that until the very end,” Vujović stated.

He highlighted the significance of the win for team morale as part of their preparations for the upcoming European Championship. “There were both positive and negative aspects, and we will work on those,” Vujović explained. He also commended the younger players, indicating that they showed potential and could be contenders for positions in the European Championship.
