The animated series South Park has brought back the character of Jeff Bezos in its latest episode, titled Sickofancy, which aired on September 27, 2023. This episode is the third installment of the show’s 27th season and features a gathering of prominent tech leaders, including Mark Zuckerberg and Tim Cook, in a lavish, gold-adorned room at the White House. The characters come together to present gifts and compliments to former President Donald Trump.

Fans of the show quickly recognized Bezos, who was depicted similarly to his earlier appearances in Season 22. This character first debuted in the 2018 episodes Unfulfilled and Bike Parade, where he was portrayed as a telepathic supervillain. His storyline in Season 22 satirized criticisms surrounding Amazon’s working conditions, showing him making a deal with the town’s mayor, Mayor McDaniels, to establish an Amazon fulfilment center in South Park.

In this new episode, viewers saw Bezos waiting to meet the president, recalling his previous, oversized-headed depiction, which has become a hallmark of his character. The character’s telepathic abilities allow him to eavesdrop on residents via their Amazon Echo devices, and he is humorously shown commanding Alexa to “kill Kenny,” a recurring gag in the series.

Online reactions from fans highlighted the character’s resemblance to Bezos. One user on Reddit noted, “You know damn well that’s Jeff Bezos,” while another remarked, “Look up a pic of Jeff Bezos; it’s pretty much exactly what he looks like.” The excitement surrounding his return echoed through social media, with fans enthusiastically declaring, “BEZOS IS BACK BABY.”

The episode also packed in various pop culture references, including tributes to Star Wars and the return of the character Towelie, who travels to a military-occupied Washington, D.C., to meet Trump. The show continued its satirical portrayal of Trump, characterizing him with exaggerated physical traits and depicting a toxic relationship with the character of Satan.

Following the airing of Sickofancy, Comedy Central announced that upcoming episodes will be released bi-weekly, starting with Episode 4 scheduled for September 3, 2023. Fans can expect to stream the new episodes the day after they air on Paramount+.

This latest episode reaffirms South Park‘s reputation for timely and humorous commentary on current events, illustrating how the show continues to resonate with its audience by integrating familiar figures into its satirical narrative.
