Corsica Studios to Close in 2026, Plans Future Reopening

The renowned Corsica Studios, a staple of London’s nightlife, will close its doors at the end of March 2026. Located in the Elephant and Castle area, this iconic venue has been a significant part of the city’s underground music scene for the past 23 years. While the closure marks the end of an era, plans are in place for a future reopening with a revamped space.
Founded in 2002, Corsica Studios boasts a capacity of 500 and has hosted an impressive roster of artists, including Helena Hauff, Nina Kraviz, Bicep, Daniel Avery, Four Tet, and even Björk. In a statement released to Time Out, the club confirmed its closure, citing the need for a refurbishment to ensure its long-term viability.
Plans for Refurbishment and Future Operations
Corsica Studios aims to reopen after undergoing significant renovations to create a sound-proofed venue. The club’s management emphasized their commitment to establishing a solid, long-term lease that includes measures to protect against potential noise complaints from nearby developments. The statement clarified that rumors suggesting the closure was due to noise issues are unfounded.
“Our operation has become increasingly challenging, particularly given the surrounding development,” the club’s management noted. “We have been in constructive dialogue with Southwark Council, the Greater London Authority, and the Music Venue Trust to secure a future for Corsica in this area.”
The club acknowledged that the decision to close its current location may disappoint some loyal patrons, but leadership believes it is necessary for the venue’s evolution. “Without adapting, we face an almost impossible task to continue,” they stated, reinforcing their intent to create a cultural space that harmonizes with the local community.
A Celebration of Legacy
As a farewell to its existing venue, Corsica Studios will host a series of events from December 31, 2025, until March 29, 2026, celebrating its 25 years of operation. These events will serve as a tribute to the club’s rich history and its impact on London’s music landscape.
The team behind Corsica Studios also operates The Carpet Shop in Peckham, another popular destination for electronic music enthusiasts.
