The global LED video display market experienced a robust growth of 6.2% year-on-year during the second quarter of 2025, according to market research firm Omdia. This increase is attributed to heightened demand across various sectors, including public spaces, retail, sports and live events, control rooms for smart cities, and corporate and educational environments.

In public spaces, interactive displays are being integrated into art installations and cultural parks, resulting in longer visitor dwell times and greater public engagement. Retailers are utilizing both indoor and outdoor AI-driven digital signage, effectively increasing customer viewing time and sales conversions. In the realm of sports and live events, giant curved screens and 360° immersive displays are enhancing fan experiences with features like instant replays and augmented reality overlays.

Technological Advancements Fueling Growth

Key technological innovations are driving the expansion of the LED video display market. Advances in MicroLED and miniLED technologies now allow for pixel pitches as fine as 0.4 mm, which, coupled with 30% higher energy efficiency and wider colour gamuts, ensure vivid imagery even under direct sunlight. Additionally, the sustainability aspect cannot be overlooked. These modern displays consume 40%-60% less power than their conventional counterparts while maintaining an operational life exceeding 50,000 hours, significantly reducing total ownership costs.

Furthermore, adaptive brightness technologies, which utilize AI-driven sensors to dynamically adjust luminance, contribute to optimal visibility and energy savings.

Future Outlook and Market Dominance

Omdia forecasts that as emerging markets in regions such as Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean accelerate their adoption of LED technologies, these displays will increasingly dominate the digital out-of-home (DOOH) advertising space, sports venues, and virtual production.

According to Cindy Liu, a senior analyst at Omdia, the latest LED video displays are setting new benchmarks with their ultra-high-definition resolution, vibrant colour reproduction, wider viewing angles, and modular designs suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. Liu noted, “Key technological breakthroughs in manufacturing processes and innovations are delivering unparalleled performance.”

As the market continues to evolve, it is clear that the LED video display sector is poised for significant growth, driven by technological advancements and increasing demand across various industries.
