The Department of State Services (DSS) has officially dismissed a total of 115 operatives as part of its ongoing internal reform initiatives. This announcement was made on October 3, 2023, through a post on the agency’s verified social media account, outlining the measures taken to enhance professionalism and integrity within its ranks.
DSS Reform Initiatives
In its statement, the DSS emphasized that these dismissals are part of a broader strategy aimed at restructuring the agency to better serve the public. The DSS clarified that, in addition to the personnel changes, it has issued warnings regarding the fraudulent activities of some dismissed operatives. The agency specifically mentioned individuals, including Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, who are reportedly still posing as active DSS personnel.
The DSS has urged the public to exercise caution and avoid engaging with these individuals, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining law and order. The agency stated, “Members of the public are therefore advised to refrain from any official dealings with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service.”
Commitment to Integrity
The DSS has reiterated its dedication to upholding integrity and discipline among its members. It announced that any personnel found guilty of misconduct will face appropriate sanctions, highlighting its resolve to instill a culture of accountability within the agency.
The recent dismissals mark a significant step in the DSS’s ongoing efforts to reassert its authority and improve its operational effectiveness. As the agency continues to implement these reforms, it aims to foster a professional environment that aligns with international standards in intelligence and security.
The actions taken by the DSS reflect a growing emphasis on transparency and accountability within government institutions, which is crucial for maintaining public trust. Through these reforms, the DSS seeks to reassure citizens of its commitment to serving the nation effectively and ethically.
As the situation develops, the DSS is expected to provide further updates on its reorganization efforts and any additional measures aimed at enhancing operational integrity.
