Tivat’s Second Art Salon Showcases 36 Artists with Mediterranean Theme
The 2nd Art Salon “Pean – Sindik” opened on Saturday evening at the Museum and Galleries of Tivat, showcasing the theme “Imaginary of the Mediterranean.” This year, the event features 36 artists from both the country and the surrounding region, selected from a pool of 130 submitted works.
Despite the high number of entries, the jury made the decision not to award a Grand Prix this year. Instead, Matko Vekić from Croatia received second place for his artistic piece titled “Intuition.” Other recognitions went to Filip Dacevac and Lidija Martinović, both in the category for artists under 35, alongside Milan Pantelić and Lucija Jelić.
In explaining the decision to withhold the top prize, Nevenka Šarčević, president of the expert jury, expressed that this should not be viewed as a setback. Instead, she emphasized the importance of motivating artists to pursue even bolder and deeper creative expressions.
The director of the Museum and Galleries, Danijela Đukić, highlighted that the event serves as more than just a gathering around art; it is an opportunity for the community to reflect on the results of dedicated and continuous efforts in developing Tivat’s cultural scene.
Through various exhibitions, educational programs, and collaborations with artists and institutions locally and regionally, the museum has established a distinct identity and plays a significant role in the cultural life of the community. The second Tivat Art Salon “Pean – Sindik” reinforces this progress by bringing together renowned artists and promoting new creative voices while presenting a wide array of contemporary artistic expressions.
“Our mission is to provide support to artists through a professional and inclusive approach, fostering dialogue, and contributing to the development of cultural awareness in the local community,” stated Đukić, as reported by the agency CGnews.
The works of the 36 artists participating in this year’s Art Salon are displayed across three levels of the Museum and Galleries of Tivat. The opening event featured a musical performance by high school graduate Adian Gebauer, who showcased his saxophone skills. This occasion also marks the beginning of the “November Days” festival, supported by the Municipality of Tivat, in celebration of the municipality’s day on November 21.
