Tivat School Confirms Continued Transport Funding for Students
The JU SMŠ „Mladost“ Tivat has issued a statement clarifying that the funding for student transportation from Herceg Novi will not be cut, countering recent claims that the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation of Montenegro had canceled financial support for these students. The school emphasized that the information circulating regarding the discontinuation of transport funding is incorrect.
Concerns arose earlier when the Parents’ Council of JU SMŠ „Mladost“ reported that a decision by the Herceg Novi municipality, in collaboration with the Ministry, would cease financial support for students commuting to the school. They expressed deep worry about the implications of this decision, particularly noting that starting from December 1, 2023, transportation would no longer be provided.
In response, JU SMŠ „Mladost“ Tivat assured parents that funding for student transportation remains consistent with previous arrangements. The Ministry continues to cover 20% of the transportation costs, while the municipality of Herceg Novi contributes 80% for the route from Herceg Novi to Tivat.
The school acknowledged that a recent issue arose with the transportation provider, who requested an additional 2,000 EUR for maintaining the service. This financial challenge is the sole reason for the current difficulties, not any policy changes from the Ministry or the school.
As an educational institution committed to its students, JU SMŠ „Mladost“ Tivat highlighted its ongoing communication with relevant authorities, ensuring that solutions are sought so that no student is deprived of their right to regular transport. The school reaffirmed its dedication to providing uninterrupted services and fostering a supportive environment for its students.
