Police Arrest Five in Drug Trafficking Bust; 16 Charged

Police in Montenegro have made significant progress in their efforts to combat drug trafficking, arresting five individuals during recent operations in the capital, Podgorica, and the town of Pljevlja. The suspects, identified as S.G. (49) from Podgorica, along with N.K. (22), Dž.K. (36), D.H. (30), and E.H. (21) from Pljevlja, were detained as part of a multi-month police operation named “FROM.” This initiative aims to tackle street-level drug sales and dismantle trafficking networks.

According to the Police Administration, the recent arrests are part of a broader strategy to address illegal drug production, possession, and distribution. The police have filed a total of 15 criminal charges against 16 individuals during the course of this operation. Among these, nine charges were filed against ten individuals for drug-related offenses, while four charges were made for illegal border crossings and human trafficking. Additionally, two individuals are under suspicion for serious theft.

In their statement, the Police Administration emphasized the comprehensive nature of their crackdown, stating, “We have also submitted ten misdemeanor charges against ten people for violations of the Drug Abuse Prevention Law.” The authorities seized various types of narcotics, including marijuana, cocaine, heroin, amphetamines, and other synthetic drugs. A vehicle was also confiscated during these operations.

The Police Administration is committed to intensifying their efforts in identifying, prosecuting, and dismantling street dealer networks across the country. They reiterated their focus on combating all forms of drug abuse, demonstrating a proactive stance against illegal activities.
