Nico Raskin Remains with Rangers Amid Turkish Transfer Interest
Nico Raskin will remain at Rangers when the team faces Hearts tomorrow afternoon, despite speculation regarding a potential transfer to Turkish clubs Besiktas and Fenerbahce. The midfielder had been linked with a move away from Ibrox before the closure of the transfer window; however, he will not be included in the squad for the match.
Interest from the Turkish Super Lig intensified as both clubs sought to secure Raskin’s services following a reported fallout with Rangers manager Russell Martin. Rangers was prepared to consider offers for the 24-year-old, but as the transfer deadline approached, no official bids were submitted. According to reports from the Rangers Review, Raskin will continue with the club at least until January, as the Turkish teams could not finalize any last-minute deals.
Raskin has recently returned to training with the first team after engaging in what were described as peace talks with Martin. However, the manager indicated that Raskin has yet to regain the full trust of his teammates. This lack of rapport has led to his absence from the squad for the upcoming Scottish Premiership match at Ibrox Stadium.
In a pre-match press conference, Martin addressed the situation, stating, “I think everyone needs to be on the pitch with trust and feeling and clarity. And that’s it. The most important thing is that Nico knows why. The players know why. We want to move forward.” He emphasized the need for Raskin to contribute positively to the team dynamic and support their efforts to secure victories.
While the transfer window has closed, Martin expressed confidence in the strength of his current squad. “After the transfer window shut, I think we’re in such a stronger position. I’m really excited about what this group can go on achieving now,” he said, highlighting a sense of optimism surrounding the team’s future.
The developments surrounding Raskin reflect the ongoing challenges and dynamics within professional football, where player relationships and team cohesion are crucial for success. As Rangers prepare for the match against Hearts, the focus will remain on performance and teamwork, with Raskin expected to work towards regaining his place in the squad.
