A play area in Long Sutton is set to undergo a significant transformation, receiving a total investment of £50,000 for upgrades. Winfrey Park will see the installation of new play equipment following a grant of £24,999 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The Long Sutton Parish Council will provide matching funds, aiming to create an engaging space that offers unique recreational opportunities for children.

Parish council clerk Karen Treacher expressed gratitude for the funding, stating, “The council are extremely pleased and are so thankful for the UKSPF funding Committee for awarding the grant of £24,999. The council will match fund the award to provide more play equipment in Winfrey Park to encourage physical activities and outdoor enjoyment for young people.”

In an effort to ensure the new equipment caters to a variety of ages and interests, the council plans to consider three different proposals after the summer recess. The objective is to create a play area that is appealing and beneficial for all members of the community.

Karen Treacher emphasized the importance of recreational spaces, saying, “Long Sutton is very lucky to have such large parks in the town for everyone’s enjoyment.” She noted that this initiative is part of the council’s ongoing commitment to enhance play and relaxation areas, a project that has been in progress for four years.

The investment in Winfrey Park reflects a broader effort to promote outdoor activities and foster community engagement among young residents. The council’s collaboration with the UK Shared Prosperity Fund highlights the importance of local initiatives in improving public amenities.

With the planned enhancements, Long Sutton aims to create a vibrant environment that encourages children to be active and enjoy the outdoors, further solidifying the park’s role as a community hub. As plans move forward, residents can look forward to new opportunities for play and interaction in a refreshed Winfrey Park.
