Dominic Calvert-Lewin Set to Join Leeds After Leaving Everton

Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is poised to join Leeds United after reaching an agreement as a free agent. The 28-year-old forward is expected to undergo a medical examination at the club’s Thorp Arch training ground in Yorkshire. Calvert-Lewin left Everton FC after a nine-year stint, marking the end of a significant chapter in his career.
Last season proved challenging for Calvert-Lewin, as he managed only three goals in 26 appearances for Everton. A series of injuries sidelined him for approximately three months, significantly impacting his performance. Since the 2021-22 season, he has missed a total of 529 days due to various health issues, which hampered his ability to contribute consistently on the pitch.
Calvert-Lewin’s Departure and New Opportunities
At the conclusion of the last season, Everton offered Calvert-Lewin a new contract with reduced terms. The striker decided against this proposal, opting instead for a fresh challenge elsewhere. In a heartfelt message posted on Instagram in June, he reflected on his time at Everton, stating, “This isn’t something I chose lightly. Everton has been my home since I was 19 years old. It’s the place that saw potential in me, challenged me to grow, and shaped me both as a footballer and as a man.” His decision underscores a desire for new experiences and opportunities in the footballing world.
Calvert-Lewin is set to become Leeds’ eighth signing of the summer transfer window as the club bolsters its squad ahead of the upcoming season. Leeds will host Everton in their opening match on Monday night, providing a unique opportunity for Calvert-Lewin to face his former team right after his transition.
As Leeds United aims to enhance their competitive edge in the league, Calvert-Lewin’s arrival could prove pivotal. His experience and goal-scoring ability will be crucial as the team prepares for the challenges ahead. The signing also reflects Leeds’ commitment to strengthening their lineup in anticipation of a successful campaign.
