Aberystwyth Town Women U19s Launch Season Against Llanelli Town

The Aberystwyth Town Women’s Football Club is gearing up for an exciting weekend as the Under 19 team kicks off the new season against Llanelli Town in the Genero Adran U19’s South league on Friday night. Meanwhile, the first team will host The New Saints on Sunday, marking their first home game of the season.
Last season, the U19 team finished in a commendable 7th place in the league. Highlights included an impressive away victory against Cardiff City and a standout home performance against Carmarthen Town, where they showcased their potential. The team also secured draws against Barry Town United, Briton Ferry Llansawel, and Swansea City. These achievements underline the U19 squad’s importance as a vital bridge between junior and senior football within the Aberystwyth Town Women’s Football Club structure.
Manager Prepares for the Season Ahead
U19 manager Roy Tourle is optimistic as the new season begins. He stated, “I’m really looking forward to the coming season with the U19s and our first game on Friday evening at home against Llanelli. We have a different format this season that will see us having the opportunity of playing some of the North U19 sides after Christmas.”
Tourle emphasized the significance of the U19 squad, noting that it allows younger players to transition into senior football. This season features a particularly young squad, but Tourle believes their development will benefit from playing at this competitive level.
In the context of player development, several regulars from last season’s U19 squad have already made their mark in the senior team. Notable players such as Tirion Sedgwick, Lowri James-Evans, Paige Harvey, and Sioned Kersey were involved with the first team during their opening match last Sunday, with both Paige and Sioned making their debut in the Genero Adran Premier.
Upcoming Matches and Season Outlook
The U19 team’s schedule includes several challenging fixtures, starting with the match against Llanelli Town. Following that, they will face teams like Pontypridd United and Haverfordwest County, among others. The complete list of upcoming matches includes:
