Virgin Media Unveils Lowest Ever Broadband Prices, Outshining Rivals
Virgin Media has announced significant price reductions on its fastest fibre broadband plans, marking the lowest prices ever offered by the company. The adjustments come as part of the provider’s strategy to attract new customers in a competitive market. The M500 Fibre Broadband plan, which delivers speeds of 516Mbps, is now available for £27.99 per month. Additionally, the Gig1 Fibre Broadband plan, boasting speeds of 1,130Mbps, is being offered for £29.99.
Both plans include a complimentary subscription to Netflix Standard with Ads, a feature previously exclusive to Virgin Media’s higher-end TV bundles. This offer presents a savings of approximately £143.76 over the duration of the 24-month contract when compared to direct Netflix subscriptions. Furthermore, customers opting for the Gig1 plan will also benefit from Virgin’s WiFi guarantee, which typically incurs an extra charge of £8 and promises a £100 bill credit if speeds fall below a minimum of 30Mbps in every room.
For those seeking more economical options, Virgin Media does provide cheaper packages. The 132Mbps plan is available for £23.99, but this option does not include the free Netflix subscription.
Competitive Landscape and Price Adjustments
Despite these attractive offers, it is important to note that Virgin Media has a history of annual price increases. The company has confirmed that customers on the £27.99 plan will see their monthly bills rise to £31.99 starting in April 2026 and to £35.99 from April 2027. This pricing strategy places Virgin Media in direct competition with other major broadband providers.
Sky, for instance, includes Netflix with all its Sky Stream packages, but its 900Mbps broadband plan comes at a higher cost of £40 per month. Meanwhile, BT offers a 150Mbps package for £28.99, further highlighting Virgin’s competitive pricing.
Customer Feedback and Service Quality
Virgin Media has garnered thousands of positive reviews on platforms like Trustpilot. One customer praised the service, stating, “The service has been faultless for the last 18 months and the broadband is easily fast enough for our family.” Another noted, “My internet and TV almost never go down, and if they do, it’s always fixed within a couple of hours.”
While many reviews commend the broadband speed and reliability, some customers have expressed dissatisfaction with customer service. One reviewer rated the broadband five stars but criticized the customer service, giving it a single star. In contrast, another long-term customer expressed their satisfaction, stating, “Brilliant speeds and great customer service, have been with these guys for 15 years.”
As Virgin Media continues to innovate its broadband offerings, the latest price reductions and included services are likely to resonate with consumers seeking both speed and value in their internet packages.
