Plantaze Reports €1.41 Million Loss in First Nine Months of 2023

Plantaze, a significant player in Montenegro’s agricultural sector, has reported a loss of €1.41 million for the first nine months of 2023. This figure represents an increase of €230,211, or nearly 20 percent, compared to the same period last year, when the company recorded a loss of €1.18 million.

The company’s financial struggles come after it ended the previous fiscal year with a profit of €1.04 million. This stark contrast highlights ongoing challenges as Plantaze navigates an increasingly competitive market.

Leadership and Ownership Structure

The executive director of Plantaze, Igor Cajdenovic, oversees operations as the company grapples with these financial difficulties. Meanwhile, Nikola Tripkovic serves as the chairman of the board, guiding the overall strategy during this critical phase.

Ownership of Plantaze is largely held by the government, which possesses a majority stake of nearly 56 percent. This includes shares held by various state entities: the Development Bank with 22.22 percent, the Fund PIO at 21.49 percent, the Employment Agency owning 8.52 percent, and the government itself with 3.66 percent. Additionally, the Montenegrin Commercial Bank holds a 9.22 percent share in the company.

The losses experienced by Plantaze underline the broader economic challenges facing the agricultural sector in Montenegro. As the company seeks to recover, it will need to implement effective strategies to improve profitability and ensure sustainability in an evolving landscape.
