The BBC has announced plans to air a re-edited version of the classic *Doctor Who* serial, *The Sea Devils*, next month. This feature-length episode, lasting 90 minutes, will premiere on December 7, 2024, ahead of the much-anticipated spinoff, *The War Between The Land and The Sea*.

Originally broadcast in 1972, *The Sea Devils* introduced audiences to the Third Doctor, portrayed by Jon Pertwee, as he faced the ancient reptilian race for the first time. The serial also featured Katy Manning as companion Jo Grant and Roger Delgado as The Master. The re-edited version aims to engage both longtime fans and new viewers with its updated sound design by Mark Ayres and a refreshed score composed by Lorne Balfe.

Celebrating 52 Years of Adventure

As the showrunner, Russell T Davies expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming release, stating, “52 years after they first rose from the depths, it’s Sea Devil night across the BBC! A great idea never dies, and viewers young and old can now heed the warning: watch the seas!” His comments highlight the enduring appeal of *Doctor Who* and its ability to captivate audiences across generations.

The re-edited version of *The Sea Devils* will be available for streaming on iPlayer starting at 06:00 GMT on Sunday, December 7, and will air that same evening at 19:00 GMT on BBC Four. This broadcast will precede the double-episode premiere of *The War Between The Land and The Sea*, which is set to air on BBC One at 20:30 GMT.

With the return of the iconic Sea Devils, fans are eager to see how these classic monsters will interact with the human race in the new spinoff. The combination of nostalgia and innovation aims to create a captivating viewing experience that aligns with the show’s rich legacy in science fiction television.

As anticipation builds, viewers worldwide will have the opportunity to revisit a beloved chapter of *Doctor Who* while looking forward to fresh narratives in the universe.
