Multevo Expands Headquarters Following Rapid Growth Success
Multevo, a rapidly growing engineering and construction firm based in Darwen, has received planning permission to expand its headquarters. The new development will include a reception area and office space, reflecting the company’s recent success, particularly in its pothole repair operations.
The single-storey building will be constructed at Unit 1 to 3 on Charles Street. According to the Financial Times, Multevo was ranked 398th among 1,000 of Europe’s fastest growing companies in March 2023. The company, established in 2010 with only four employees, now boasts a workforce of over 340 across the UK.
Multevo provides a range of services, including highways maintenance, civil engineering, groundworks, arboriculture, traffic management, and plant and fleet maintenance. The company recently secured a partnership with Lancashire County Council to resurface roads using recycled materials, aiming for sustainable and durable repairs.
Planning Approval and Development Details
The expansion project received conditional approval from Blackburn with Darwen Council. A planning officer’s report noted that the new building will be modest in scale, occupying an area of 36 square metres. It is designed to be an ancillary office and reception for Multevo’s repair garage.
The flat-roofed structure will be built using bricks that match the existing buildings on the site. The report indicated that the new development would not detrimentally impact the surrounding area. It will be partially visible from Duckworth Street, though the main building will obscure some of the view.
The planning report emphasized that the site for the new building is well-chosen, stating, “The proposed location would be partially visible…though would be partially obscured by the main building.” It added that the development would not interfere with existing parking or pedestrian movement.
Multevo’s expansion is indicative of its ongoing growth and commitment to enhancing its operational capabilities. As the demand for effective road maintenance solutions increases, the company’s investment in its facilities positions it to meet these needs more effectively.
