Belfast Welcomes Santa’s Largest Post Office Ahead of Christmas

The largest Post Office dedicated to Santa Claus has opened in Belfast, with more than 10,000 letters expected to be sent to the North Pole this festive season. Situated at 2 Royal Avenue, the Post Office will be operational from November 16 until December 21, 2023, providing a festive experience for visitors in the city centre.

Upon arrival, guests will be greeted by a winter wonderland atmosphere, complete with Santa’s Sleigh available for photographs. The venue features a special sensory wall designed to immerse children in the magic of Christmas. Children can write their letters to Santa with the help of the elves, who will also facilitate arts and crafts activities.

The event will include two special quiet evenings aimed at creating a comfortable environment for children who may find busy settings overwhelming. These evenings are scheduled for December 3 and December 17, and attendees will need tickets to attend. Additionally, a dedicated British Sign Language (BSL) evening is set for December 10, promoting inclusivity for all families. Belfast’s city centre is also enhancing its festive atmosphere with new lighting installations and the opening of the Christmas Market. The CastleCourt’s Santa Parade will add to the holiday spirit, while Joy’s Entry collaborates with Three Cents to create seasonal displays. Victoria Square is introducing the Victoria Square Express, offering visitors a train ride to Santa’s Grotto.

Martina Connolly, CEO of Belfast One BID, expressed enthusiasm about the festive offering: “Our city centre truly lights up at Christmas, not only with twinkling lights and festive spirit, but with plenty of free family fun, beautiful décor and Christmas experiences thanks to our incredible businesses, shopping centres, retailers and restaurants.”

Connolly highlighted the growth of Santa’s Post Office, designed to accommodate the increased demand from families seeking festive experiences. “At 2 Royal Avenue, Santa’s Post Office is bigger and better this year, aiming to meet the huge demand we have experienced in recent years. Santa has sent his elves to help children put pen to paper, and we’re expecting over 10,000 letters to magically make their way to the North Pole, with all of their wishes for Christmas Day.”
