Baxter Dury Releases New Single ‘Schadenfreude’ Ahead of Album

Baxter Dury has unveiled his latest single, titled ‘Schadenfreude’, offering listeners a glimpse into his forthcoming album, ‘Allbarone’. The track is now available and showcases Dury’s unique blend of lyrical depth and electronic soundscapes. The album, which is set to be released on September 12th via Heavenly Recordings, promises to deliver an intriguing musical experience.
In creating ‘Schadenfreude’, Dury collaborated with renowned producer Paul Epworth in a studio setting that he describes as “palatial.” Dury expressed his enthusiasm for the creative process, stating, “As soon as we had the backing track, it remained on loop played through these giant bespoke speakers that looked like Cocaine Daleks.” This vivid imagery captures the essence of the track, which combines an optimistic, pulsating French dance rhythm with introspective and heartfelt lyrics.
The single features a sound that reflects Dury’s distinctive style, melding electronic beats with a lyrical exploration of complex emotions. He describes the track as having a “slightly over honest fragile man lyric,” which adds a layer of authenticity to the upbeat music.
To complement the release of ‘Schadenfreude’, a visually striking music video directed by Gareth Bowen has been produced. The video, crafted in collaboration with the London-based studio Blinkink, presents a chic and cinematic aesthetic that enhances the song’s themes.
Listeners can access the single and its accompanying video through various streaming platforms. As anticipation builds for the release of ‘Allbarone’, it is evident that Baxter Dury continues to push creative boundaries while engaging his audience with thought-provoking content and innovative music.
As Dury prepares for the album launch, fans can look forward to experiencing more of his artistic vision and the unique sounds he brings to the music scene.
