Police Arrest Five, File Charges Against 16 in Drug Crackdown

Police in Montenegro have arrested five individuals in connection with illegal drug activities. The arrests took place in the cities of Podgorica and Pljevlja as part of a larger operation called “FROM.” This initiative aims to combat street-level drug sales and trafficking networks. The detained individuals include S.G. (49) from Podgorica, along with N.K. (22), Dž.K. (36), D.H. (30), and E.H. (21) from Pljevlja.

The operation, conducted by the Administration of Police of Montenegro, has been ongoing for several months. Authorities have submitted a total of 15 criminal charges against 16 individuals as a result of this initiative. Among these, nine charges were filed against ten individuals for drug-related offenses, while four charges were lodged against four others for illegal border crossing and human trafficking. Additionally, two individuals are suspected of committing serious theft.

In a statement, the police emphasized their commitment to tackling drug abuse and related crimes. They reported that they had also filed ten misdemeanor charges against ten individuals for violations of the Drug Abuse Prevention Law.

The police have seized various types of narcotics during this operation, including marijuana, cocaine, heroin, amphetamines, and other synthetic drugs. Along with the drugs, law enforcement officials confiscated a vehicle believed to be linked to the drug trade.

The police reiterated their determination to continue proactive efforts focused on identifying and dismantling street dealer networks throughout the country. This ongoing commitment aims to suppress all forms of drug abuse and ensure public safety.

This crackdown reflects a broader strategy by local law enforcement to address the growing concerns surrounding drug trafficking and its impact on communities in Montenegro.
